  • Except those industry classified as Micro and Cottage industries, Industries with fixed assets up to Rs.15 crores are Small Industries
  • Industry with fixed assets ranging between Rs.15 crores to Rs.50 crores are Medium Industry
  • Industry with fixed assets more than Rs.50 crores are Large Industry

  • Manufacturing industries
  • Agro-forestry industries
  • Mining industries
  • Construction industries

Energy Efficiency Strategy 2075

Government of Nepal has formulated energy efficiency strategy recently. It has envisioned assisting in energy security by increasing the energy access through efficient use of available energy. It has expected to promote energy efficiency by effectively implementing energy efficiency programs through establishing policy, legal and institutional frameworks. 18 | P a g e The strategy has taken long term goal to double the average improvement rate of energy efficiency in Nepal from 0.84% per year, which existed during the period of 2000 -2015 AD to 1.68% per year in 2030 AD. Following objectives and strategies are delineated to achieve the vision and mission of the strategy.

Objectives

  • Support to economic growth by reducing energy intensity and increasing productivity
  • Reduce existing energy shortage, increase energy access and provide important contribution to energy security by efficient use of energy.
  • Create employment opportunities by creation, expansion and commercialization of energy efficiency market
  • Maintain environmental balance and bring positive improvements in health by efficient use of energy

Strategies

  • Establish policy, legal and institutional frameworks for resources management, resources mobilization, infrastructure development and human resources development required 5 for energy efficiency
  • Develop national standards for energy efficiency based on established international and regional standards as well as to develop equipment and means for measuring energy efficiency
